Rx Spironolactone Tablets

Spironolactone is a diuretic designed to help eliminate excess fluid in pets. It is usually recommended by your veterinarian when your pet has failed to respond to other types of diuretics. What is especially good about this diuretic compared to other diuretics is that it does not cause a reduction in your pet's blood potassium. It comes in tablet form, and you will need a valid prescription from your veterinarian in order to purchase it.

Dosage & Directions

Give this medication with food to increase its absorption and lessen stomach upset. Ideally, give the medication at the same time daily. Give medication as directed by your veterinarian. This medication is usually given once or twice daily. Give the exact amount prescribed and only as often as directed. Missed doses reduce the effectiveness of therapy. Do not suddenly stop this medication. This product may be provided to you as tablets. If it is difficult for you to administer tablets to your pet, your veterinarian may be able to have it formulated as an oral liquid or a transdermal gel. Ensure your pet has plenty of food and fresh, clean drinking water while taking spironolactone. It is important that your pet eats and drinks well to decrease the likelihood of side effects. Speak to your veterinarian if your pet does not eat or drink well. Your pet will have to urinate more frequently than normal and 'accidents' are possible.

Cautions & Warnings

Keep this and all medication out of reach of children and pets. Call your physician immediately if you accidentally take this product. Contact your veterinarian immediately if pet consumes more than the prescribed amount.

Storage & Disposal

Store in a tight, light resistant, childproof container in a cool, dry place at room temperature away from heat and direct sunlight.
