Meloxicam Meloxicam is an FDA-approved (in the USA) generic that is equivalent to Metacam. It is used for reducing pain and inflammation in animals. In dogs meloxicam is principally used for the symptomatic treatment of osteoarthritis. In cats it is for the control of postoperative pain and inflammation associated with orthopedic surgery, ovariohystorectomy and castration when administered prior to surgery.
