Lixit Glass Water Bottle, Medium Tube The Lixit Glass Water Bottle has a medium nozzle measuring 7/16" is designed for hookbill birds such as Conures, African Greys, Quakers, Senegals, and Amazons. Can be used for other animals such as rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, chinchillas, and small dogs. This kit contains steel mounting bracket and holder and easily attaches to wire cages with mounting hardware that makes it easy for quick refilling and cleaning. Keeps water fresh and clean from debris. Tools are required for assembly. Simply select a convenient location and position the holder so that the tube tip will be about head high to your bird or pet. Cut-out or spread cage wires apart if needed for the tube opening. Install with screws and mounting washers. Be sure the cut-out notches on the locking bracket are facing downwards as illustrated. The mounting washers can be mounted onto horizontal vertical or diagonal cage wire (as on a chain link fence) Tighten screws securely.
Helpful Hints
1. Press inward on both sides of the bail wire and lift to release the bottle. It will require you to use thumb on one side and index finger on the other at the same time. Your bird will not be able to do this and if wire clamp is assembled correctly it should not be able to lift the wire.
2. The locking bracket must be installed with the cut-out notches facing downward. When lifting the bail wire it should stop horizontally on the notches. If it lifts straight up vertically you have assembled the locking bracket upside down and you need to flip it over. The wire should only lift vertically when you have pressed on both sides of wire near notches and lift up.
3. If the back strap becomes bowed when mounting screws are tightened simply bend the pedestal mount up or down to fit the bottle.
4. The stainless steel lock-tight nuts have nylon insert this prevents your pet from removing the nut as opposed to wing-nuts. They require a screwdriver and 3/8” wrench or pliers to assemble. For safety you may want to cut off the mounting screws flush with the locknut using a hacksaw or nippers
5. All parts dishwasher safe. Wash as needed. Rinse thoroughly.
6. Always make sure a new bottle is working properly before leaving your pet alone check water and drinking tube daily.
7. When inserting tube and stopper into bottles make sure you have pushed the stopper tightly into bottle. It is sometimes helpful to get the stopper wet before inserting. Approximately ¼” of stopper should be exposed on 16 oz. bottles ½” on 32 oz. bottles. Make sure you fill bottle completely full.
