Lixit Pig Water Nipple L-80 1 Nipple

The Lixit Pig Water Nipple L-80 is an ideal product to have for PVC watering systems in kennels and swine farrowing houses. These are self-service lever operated tilt valves that release water into the animal's mouth. The nipple is made of stainless steel and features a bite guard. It can be installed horizontally or downward at most any angle. The recommended installation is tilted downward at a 45-degree angle and at a height where pigs reach upward to drink. The reason this position is recommended is that it reduces water spillage while the pig is drinking. Water flow for this product is adjustable, operating at 5-100 psi water pressure. The water flows under the tilted valve head and through the hollow lever into the animals mouth. The flow is a gentle water release; it shuts off automatically when control level is released. CONTROLLED WATER FLOW: Choice of internal orifice discs provide regulation of water flow at water pressures up to 100 psi. This controlled water flow helps avoid water wastage. Use no orifice for 5-30 psi pressure. Use the large orifice for 30-60 psi pressure and the small orifice for over 60 psi pressure.
WATER FLOW RATES: Flow rates using 40 psi are as follows: Small orifice = pint per minute Large orifice = 1 ½ quarts per minute no orifice = 2 quarts per minute.
EASY INSTALLATION: Lixit Nipples screw directly into standard ½” pipe fittings and can be installed horizontally or tilted downward at most any angle. The best installation is titled downward at a 45 degree angle and at a height where the pigs reach upward to drink. This position reduces water wastage while drinking. Where height adjustment is desired they can be installed in a section of pipe and connected to the water line with flexible high pressure hose.
NUMBER OF ANIMALS: Up to 15 pigs can be served with a single valve. However the best practical number of animals per valve rests with common sense judgment and depends on the size of the animals and time of year.
IMPORTANT: If your water system contains particles of silt or sand we recommend that a filter be installed in the supply line ahead of the valve. Sand particles can lodge under the valve seal and cause leakage.
MAINTENANCE: Lixit nipples should be checked periodically to detect any flow rate reduction from filter screen plugging. If dripping occurs press the control lever inward and entrapped particles usually will be flushed away. If the dripping persist disassemble and remove the obstruction or repair with replacement parts. Replacement parts are available through your distributor or direct from the factory.
