While there are a variety of important trace minerals needed for your horse’s diet, copper is commonly deficient due to it being low in some forages or from copper antagonists that deplete the body of copper, such as too much sulfate in drinking water or high iron intake. Copper plays an important role in coat and skin pigmentation, hoof health, metabolic processes, bone formation, soft tissue elasticity, and storage of other key minerals.
