Does ShopPetX Require a Prescription (Rx)?
If you or members of your family have ever taken a prescription medication, then you're probably familiar with the process of filling the prescription at your local pharmacy. Some pet medications are available over the counter (OTC) which means that no prescription is needed. Other pet medications are classified by the FDA as prescription only, which means that they cannot be dispensed without an authorization from your veterinarian.

We will only contact your veterinarian if you are purchasing a prescription medication. If your order consists only of non-prescription products, we'll ship it right away, usually the very same day. If you're ordering prescription medications for your pet, we'll just need you to provide us with your vet's name and telephone number and we'll take it from there! A member of our pharmacy team will contact your vet to obtain the approval for your pet's medication by telephone or fax.
